Lacie & Jordan

Friday, May 21st, 2010

I am seeing my bride’s everywhere (on the internet). Photographers are showcasing their engagement session on their blog, or highlighting pictures of their bridal session, or posting about their wedding, etc. I have been loving seeing their pictures! Because they are all so amazing and beautiful, I would like to showcase them too!

Here are Lacie and Jordan:

Jordan is a pilot and he flew them to Wiley Post Airport where they did their engagement shoot. How perfect is that?

Carl Zoch did their engagement session and will be shooting at their wedding this fall. I took these two pictures from his blog. He gets all the credit! Also, check out these two blog posts from Carl Zoch to see more of their incredible engagement session:

88 Miles an Hour of Love

Lacie has sent me some incredible pictures for her wedding inspiration. Let’s just say that every picture she sends me, I just love. It is going to be a vintage-chic, whimsical wedding incorporating unique and modern elements. Here is a little glimpse into the inspiration:

This next picture gives some inspiration for centerpiece ideas and also a way to incorporate burlap onto the reception tables:

I am so excited for their wedding! We still have 4 months of planning to do to get ready! I sure do love what I do!

The Big Exit

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

The reception is wrapping up. The bride and groom have just finished their last dance. The guests are heading out the door for the big exit. They are grabbing something from the basket by the door to throw as the bride and groom leave for the night. What will it be?

I have seen a lot of things thrown, blown, and sparkled as the bride and groom have left their wedding/reception.

I see rose petals and birdseed the most. I have seen confetti (top right picture) and it looks great for pictures. But I would keep in mind, a lot of venues do not allow confetti for clean-up and environmental purposes. They do make “environmentally-safe” confetti now, called ecofetti,  but there are still venues that do not allow it. I would check with the venue first before you decide on what you want to use.

I love the middle right picture that I found on Holli B.’s blog. The bride and/or the groom were in the medical field and they decided to have their guests throw something symbolic for them. What a neat and personalized idea!

Now, I absolutely LOVE the bottom left picture for a fall wedding. How fitting and perfect! I love the colors, the leaves, everything! We are entering the fall season, so all you fall brides—take note of this cute idea! :)

And, of course, you have to love the picture you get when you leave with sparklers. It is stunning. Once again, some venues do not allow sparklers, so make sure you check with them before you buy 100 of them!

Don’t forget, bubbles and bells. These are two very easy and inexpensive options for the farewell!

What are you thinking abot having your guests throw at your exit? And, if you are married, what did your guests throw at your big exit?

Not your Typical Flower Girl or Ring Bearer

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Maybe you don’t have anyone in your life that is roughly between the ages of 6 months to 9 years. Maybe you don’t have a beloved niece to be your sweet flower girl or a handsome little nephew to act as the ring bearer, but you do have a sweet, cuddly animal in your home that you want to be a part of the special day. Have you thought about including him or her? Find a little tuxedo for that poodle, or an outfit for that yorkie and put them in as ring bearer or flowergirl.

pets

I must say, I have only had a few experiences that involved having pets in the wedding and both times were pretty bad experiences. The first time involved a bulldog. He walked down the aisle perfectly on a leash and behaved so great. No barking, nothing. It was going perfect. Then the bulldog fell asleep in the front row and started snoring! SO LOUD! Oh, and it was during the vows! It was such an important, sacred part of the ceremony and it was extremely hard to focus because everyone was laughing and snickering at the dog snoring.

The second time involved a dog taking a lot of bathroom breaks down the aisle. NOT PRETTY!

Obviously, the experience will differ according to the animal that is involved and how he/she acts. It is a great idea to include pets especially if they are extremely important to the bride and groom. Just make sure your venue allows pets before you book them!

A Different Look for the Bride’s Cake

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

It is still in the shape of a bride’s cake. It still has multiple tiers and different flavors. It still consists of cake mix and icing. There is still a top tier that the bride and groom can save for their one year anniversary. The difference: it is all cupcakes!

Having cupcakes is a fun alternative to having a bride’s cake at your wedding. The icing can match your wedding colors. There is virtually no mess from all of the crumbs you get when you cut the cake. They are extremely easy to serve. Why not have cupcakes?

I highly recommend Cuppies & Joe to take care of all of your cupcake needs for your wedding. Give them a call!

Not Every Wedding Dress is White

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Talk about one of the sweetest brides I have ever worked with! Her and her fiance were incredible to work with as we planned their day in less than 2 months! She was a gorgeous bride. I love the intricate detail of her sari/saree. What a rich culture to learn about and see how they celebrate their wedding day.

I loved her customized cake topper! What a great idea for any bride! There are so many websites out there now that can create a personalized cake topper for you. You send them a picture and they create a cake topper out of clay and/or other materials. Here is an example.
