Though Spring is just around the corner, we’re looking back on this special December wedding. Laura and Stuart tied the knot December 8 of last year. Laura is most definitely a city girl, but having a simple country upbringing, she wanted to incorporate both parts of her life. After a quaint morning ceremony at Laura’s family farm, they headed to OKC to celebrate with family and friends. Laura was an absolute joy to work with. Though many times we ladies tend to get caught up in the planning process, Laura’s focus and goal of the day was just to marry the man of her dreams and celebrate! I was not surprised to find out that they have hundreds of friends, and every sing one of them arrived to celebrate their big day. Thank you, Josh McCullock for these fabulous photos!

Originally, Laura's plan was to have a spring wedding, but with her father being ill, they decided on a Christmas wedding because she was determined to dance with her father.

One of her besties made custom made her cake topper...so cute!

Their band was the focal point of the reception, so we gave them a romantic backdrop!

The giant Christmas tree was a blast! We put presents under the tree ;-)

Wedding wands is soon become our new fave exit item! Laura custom ordered hers and it was a perfect fit for her venue.

Intimate, unique and special are three words that describe Amy and Chris’s wedding day. Surrounded by best friends and family, Amy and Chris said “I do” at one of Oklahoma City’s rustic-chic venues, Harn Homestead. As the pictures convey, October 19th was a gorgeous Fall day. Here are some of our favorite photos of their special day. Thank you, Kris Boevers, for capturing such special memories!

It wasn’t until one of my brides asked me, “Is it weird to bring my dog along to my engagement session?”  that I thought about how common it has become to see dogs incorporated into weddings. Often times, a pet is the couple’s prized possession, and a friend that will be part of their journey together as a married couple.

Walking down the aisle as a “flower dog” or ring bearer, joining in at engagement shoots and even roaming around the reception, there’s no doubt that these K9 wedding guests are an adorable addition to weddings. How cute are these pups dressed in a bow tie, floral collar and a tuxedo!?!?

Questions to ask before you consider having your dog present at your wedding:

1. Does the venue permit having dogs on their property?

Some venues like country will most likely have concerns about having a dog on their property, especially indoors. Even though      animals aren’t mentioned in the contract, doesn’t mean it’s permitted!

2. Will my dog feel at ease?

If your dog is timid, he might feel a bit uncomfortable around dozens of guests. Watch your dog around groups of people to              determine if he would be a good addition to your wedding.

3. Will guests be comfortable?

Some guests (like myself ;-) ) aren’t totally comfortable around strange dogs. If your dog has not been properly trained to be            around people, then it might be best to celebrate with him after the wedding.

There are so many other cute ways to include your dog in your wedding? Table numbers and favors are a few of those personal  touches to your wedding and are the perfect way to include your dog in your wedding.

Remember, don’t be afraid to think outside the box when planning your wedding; it’s the little, quirky details that make it fun and unique!

It’s the beginning of the Fall season, which means refreshing cool weather, yummy pumpkin latte’s, and some FABULOUS weddings! One of my brides was talking about the possibility of incorporating pumpkins into her wedding, and I can’t help but share this oh-so-cute idea with you all! Save-the-dates, centerpieces, aisle decor, cakes…the sky is the limit on what you can create with pumpkins. Happy Fall!!!

Okay, so we normally showcase our 2012 weddings on “Wedding Wednesday” but I am a little behind and have lots of weddings to showcase so I am blogging a wedding on a Monday! We loved working with Brittany and her sweet mom, Keli! We had a great time planning their wedding and making sure every detail was perfect! Shane and Brittany are a darling couple who love the Lord and wanted their ceremony to glorify Him in every way. It was all so sweet and meaningful.

What a beautiful wedding party!

Hello beautiful girls!

Beautiful cake by Debbie Schwab at Sweet Treasures.

One of many gorgeous centerpieces by the amazing Morrison Floral.

Thank you to Taylor at Holli B. Photography for these incredible images.

We can’t say it enough, we love our brides and grooms and their families. We love that we get to serve them and help them save money. We love that we can help save fights between the bride and her mom because we are helping so much with the details. :)

Shane and Brittany, we wish you the best of luck in all you do! Thank you for letting us be a part of your big day!

Megan Lewis is VERY dear to my heart. I got to know her when she was in high school when she came to my house every week for Bible Study. Then she went to OU and we stayed in touch while she was in college. Then she met Stephen, got to know Stephen, dated Stephen, got engaged to Stephen, and now, here is the wedding! We were so thankful that we got to help plan their special day.

The beautiful Westminster Presbyterian Church in OKC.

We loved her custom runner from Mariannes:

We love Thetas!! We have done a lot of Theta weddings and always love them!

And we would love to put in a shameless plug for one of our very favorite jewelers, Lewis Jewelers. Megan’s dad owns Lewis Jewelers in Moore. For more than thirty-five years, Lewis Jewelers has been one of the most trusted names in jewelry in the southwest. What started as a means to pay the way through college for the Lewis brothers, has grown into the largest single selection of bridal jewelry in Oklahoma. We enjoy the finest of reputations that we have built upon one customer at a time. So enjoy browsing these pages, but remember that this web site represents only a portion of our inventory. If you like what you see, then we would love the opportunity to serve you and become your jeweler. Nobody will work harder to deliver to you quality jewelry at the very best possible value. (from their website).

We LOVED working with this family and are so excited for Stephen and Megan! Thank you for letting us help you on one of the biggest days of your life!

(Thank you to Shirley Kay Photography for all of these amazing images).

There really are not adequate words to describe Alicia and Kevin’s wedding day that took place a few months ago. They were an incredible couple to work with that had incredible style. I always looked forward to the design meetings with Alicia to talk about new and unique ideas. I am kind of sad that their wedding already took place because our monthly meetings are over. It was a such a joy to work with them and serve their families. Now get ready for a lot of incredible details!

First, typically before a bride books us, we have a free consultation where we meet at our studio or a coffee shop close to the bride to go over all the ideas and details that she is envisioning for her wedding day. Brides used to bring cut outs of magazine or a binder full of pictures. Now, they whip out their Ipad or Macbook and log on to www.pinterest.com and show us their wedding boards! :) Typically, brides show us pictures of past weddings that either took place in Oklahoma or some other state where they found the picture on Style Me Pretty, Southern Weddings, or other wedding blogs/websites.

When I asked Alicia to show me ideas for her up-and-coming wedding, she did not show me pictures of past weddings. To my surprise, she showed my two pictures of two different Kate Spade stores:

She told me that the inspiration for her wedding is based off of the above pictures and she lovingly branded her theme as “Preppy Modern.”

I about died when she showed me her inspiration pictures. My mind was racing and a lot of ideas where all coming together. I threw out some ideas that she loved, and some ideas got booted out. Here are a few more of her inspiration pictures:

Now are you ready to see the final design? Get excited!! It was one of my favorite weddings of all time! Kate Spade, meet, Gaillardia:

Stunning, right? You can thank the bride for this amazing style and design. She is just that cute! A few details to make note of:

Almost every venue provides 60 inch round tables. Since a lot of this design was modern, we decided to stick with straight lines and not a lot of curves. We rented square tables from Mariannes that perfectly fit the design we were trying to achieve.

Second, did you see those linens? Custom linens from Mariannes. To-die-for. Enough said.

You can thank IES for the incredible lighting all over the room.

You can thank Poppy Lane for those stunning centerpieces.

And the incredible dessert table with cakes by Mishelle Handy and two macaroon towers by Coco Flow.

The cake table was in front of the curtains in the ballroom at Gaillardia. Alicia bought gold garland from at Etsy Seller and IES hung it from the curtains to add to the cake’s background. It was a perfect touch.

Alicia bought all of the gold chargers for the tables and also found really cute Wedding Libs on Etsy. Leslie and I spent the morning turning every napkin into a bowtie with help of a silver sequin ribbon and a stapler.

Here are a few other details that we loved:

Of course the bride was wearing the cutest Kate Spade shoes that matched her wedding theme perfectly.

And, you can never go wrong by hiring Cafe Evoke to supply a specialty coffee bar for your reception. Guests love them. We love them. It’s a win-win.

We loved this wedding guestbook alternative idea. You can find it here on Etsy.

Let’s not forget the details that made the wedding ceremony “preppy modern” too:

Are you not just in love with this wedding? We seriously have the most incredible brides. If you have not heard me say it before, hear me now: my favorite part of a wedding is when the guests walk in and I hear them say, “Oh my goodness, this is totally Alicia and Kevin.” And that is exactly what I heard with this wedding. They perfectly customized their wedding with their style, their ideas, and their budget. We just helped them make sure not one detail was overlooked and that they could enjoy the whole day because we took care of all of the set up and clean up. Every detail is in the hands of a professional, so you do not have to worry about a thing!

June 2, 2012 was an incredible day for Alicia and Kevin. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of it. We really enjoyed working with you and wish you the best of luck in all you do!

There are those times in a wedding-little moments that father of the bride shares with his daughter before and after he gives her away. The first time he sees his daughter as a beautiful bride, holding back tears as he walks her down the isle and the most precious of all, the father-daughter dance. As wedding planners, we get the privalege of witnessing such special moments, and because Father’s Day is approaching, we would like to share some of our favorite captured moments of a bride and her father on the big day.

While planning a wedding, many detailed brides overlook an optional element that can be a treasured part of wedding memories for decades to come: a videographer. We all know that choosing the right photographer is a very important decision, and a videographer will capture those same moments…but in motion. My husband and I watch our wedding video every year on our anniversary, and re-living all the sweet and funny moments it is one of our favorite traditions.

For the past several weeks we’ve been highlighting some of our favorite Oklahoma wedding photographers, and so now we’d like to introduce you to some talented wedding videographers.

Jody Wickersham is an award-winning professional videographer based out of Oklahoma City. He started Glorious Day Films in 2008, and demand from discerning brides quickly grew for his high-end artistic approach to wedding films.

Jody absolutely loves shooting film and video, and considers it an art-form. H expertly fuses visual and audio elements, which take on a life of their own and seem to transcend reality, connecting with the viewer on an emotional and spiritual level.

Jody feels it is an honor to be a part of such a special and intimate moment in your life, and help tell your story. His presence at your wedding is discreet, capturing intimate moments without drawing attention.

If you think you’d like to hire a videographer for you wedding. contact Jody to talk about the Wedding Packages offered by glorious Day Films.

My best friend’s wedding is in June, and I’m so looking forward to it!

Side note: Every time I start that sentence, all I can think about is the movie and that wonderful musical number… Love it!

I usually look at Pinterest and blogs from a “planner” point of view, but as soon as she asked me to be her Maid of Honor, I started looking from the “maid” perspective as well. One of the first images I came across was the picture below. I knew immediately that I wanted the photographer to capture this moment of us on her big day.

Since we’ve been spotlighting various photographers on the blog for the past few weeks, I thought it would be appropriate to share a few of those “must capture moments.”

If you choose to do without a First Look, here are two great moments to capture -

the bride and groom interacting without seeing each other…

… and that moment when he sees her for the first time!

If you’re playful and want to show your sense of humor, capture the bridal party sneaking a peek at a kiss between the bride and groom!

Or even better, your guests shielding their eyes from the smooch!

And if you’re feeling a touch sentimental, (and who isn’t on their wedding day?!) have the photographer capture the wedding rings of grandma, mom and the bride. What a special image to have!

So many photographers do a stellar job capturing the big and small moments of the wedding, but it’s always a good idea to have a list of must capture moments that you want from your special day!

Recently we’ve been sharing some of our favorite photographers, because we know that one of the most important decisions you’ll make while planning your wedding is who will capture every moment of your special day into something you can keep forever. This week we’ll continue taking a look at some of the best wedding photographers in Oklahoma.

Amanda Watson’s interest in photography began in high school when she took a class with friends. The experiences in that class sparked a passion for photography which has followed her for over eight years.

Amanda’s philosophy is that photography is so much more than a medium – it is an experience, an expression, a glance, an emotion, a story. Her vision is to capture more than just a pretty picture, but also to let your personality and style shine through each frame.

If you’re looking for a photographer who will give you a comfortable, natural experience and cherished photos of your wedding day, contact Amanda to book your wedding date.

April 3, 2012

We’ve recently featured two of our favorite Oklahoma wedding photographers, and this week we’d like to introduce you to another excellent option for your wedding day.

Josh & Katie McCullock photograph weddings, and love it. Their photography concentrates on relationships, emotion, and detail. They believe in craftsmanship and excellent service.

Together, they’ve photographed over 150 weddings across the United States. They are always striving to create something beautiful, and view their job of capturing special moments as not only a livelihood, but also as a responsibility.

Josh and Katie love to develop new relationships with clients — each couple they photograph becomes a part of their story. And that’s their approach toward weddings…as a narrative. They want to help you capture the complete story of your wedding day.

If you are looking for a photographer who will give you a relational, meaningful experience and emotion-filled photos of your wedding day, contact the McCullocks at JMP.
