May 1, 2009 Wedding- “He Said/She Said”

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

There was a lot of planning and preparation that went into this gorgeous May 1st wedding. Whitney and Jeremiah got married outside in the garden at the Domionion House and had there reception there too. Everything was gorgeous and went just as planned (except for the little bit of rain that came during the ceremony outside). In the midst of the rain, it was still perfect!

There were so many things that I loved about this wedding, so it is hard for me to narrow it down to just one. But, I do want to focus on one thing Whitney and Jeremiah did that added such a personal touch to their wedding day. The made a “He Said/She Said” sheet that they placed at each place setting around the table in the reception:

This memorable sheet consists of three different areas that the bride and the groom share their differing thoughts about. The first part that they flip open is “The Story.” The first part consists of Whitney explaining how she met Jeremiah and how she describes their story. Following Whitney, Jeremiah writes his side of the story. He explains his thoughts on how he met Whitney. One interaction. Two different stories. Hence, “He Said/She Said.”

The next part is “The Proposal.” You flip open that tab and then you will find how Whitney explains how Jeremiah proposed to her. After that, Jeremiah explains his side of the story of how he proposed. Once again, one interaction, two different stories. It is such a neat idea and it gives your guests something thoughtful and personal for them to read to take up that time between the ceremony and pictures.

Lastly, is the part that is entitled “From the Couple.” That is simply a message from the bride and groom to all of their guests. It includes their thankfulness to them and it includes their new address.

Whitney and Jeremiah, it was so great to work with you both and your families. Whitney, you were an absolutely STUNNING bride. You were glowing. I absolutely loved the song that you chose to walk down the aisle to see Jeremiah. It was PERFECT. It was such a sweet, genuine moment. Jeremiah, good idea with the Chacos. Even the photographer got to wear them. Congratulations you two! So excited for you!

April 25, 2009 Wedding - Personalized Guestbook

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

By working a lot of weddings, I see a lot of guest books. Some are the traditional ones, some are homemade, some are a large picture frame that everyone signs around, some are designed from the photographer. This wedding, however, had none of these. I loved the personal touch that these guest book pages provided:

Each guest fills out their own page. There is a space for them to place their picture, sign their name, write how they know the bride and the groom, write where they traveled from, and a large space to write a personalized message and well wishes to the bride and groom. It is perfect!

The only “dilemma” is that I would not recommend having these pages at the sign in table as they take some time to fill out. This bride had one page at each place setting on the table in the reception room. That way, while the bride and groom were taking pictures, the guests could fill that voided time by filling these out. It worked out great.

Definitely check out the website and order some for your wedding today! What a great keepsake to have and to look back on.

April 18, 2009 Wedding- Writing Your Own Vows

Monday, May 11th, 2009

What I loved about this wedding was how the bride and groom wrote their own vows and read them to each other at their wedding. It was PERFECT!

Vows are such an important part of the wedding and traditional vows are great, but wow, there is something about customized and personalized vows. It is extremely meaningful and a very intimate time that shows a very deep love between two people. When it is your own words that you write to show your commitment to your spouse, it creates a higher level of accountability to challenge each other and to always stay true to your promise. You are entering into a covenant that is not to be taken lightly. Writing vows are not easy. It takes time, effort, and a genuine response to what is in your heart that you want to share with your spouse.

There are several different books and/or websites that offer great advice as to how to write your own vows. This website offers 20 tips to write your own vows. This website offers some samples of vows to help you get started and get your creativity flowing.
