Candy Bar

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Candy Bars/Buffets are a popular way to offer your guests a favor to tell them “thank you for coming.” You can have all different kinds of candy in the same colors as your wedding, or you can have the bride and groom’s favorite candy available.

If you are wanting to have a candy buffet at your wedding, I highly recommend 42nd Street Candy Company located on Western. Call Teresa at 405-521-8337. She can provide just the candy, or a full service candy buffet including vases/containers, set up, tear down, etc. She is fabulous!

Every Wedding Coordinator Has a Helper…

And my helper turns 6 months old today! Here are a couple pictures of my sweet daughter Adelyn, or Addie. She is 6 months old today and I can not believe it. She is a doll and I absolutely love her! She is going to be such a great helper years down the road (and if she wants to). :)

Bella Rose Bridal Boutique.

It is kind of an interesting story as to how I got to know Bella Rose Bridal Boutique and Tara, the owner behind the store. A couple of years ago, I worked at a wedding venue and was planning 2-3 weddings a weekend (more or less, 100 weddings a year), and I always asked the bride where she got her dress from. Almost always, the bride said she got her dress from Bella Rose. I listened as the bride spoke so highly of this store, the dresses, the customer service, etc. They raved on this store. Even though I had never been in the store, I had future brides ask me where they should look for their wedding dress, and I always sent them to Bella Rose solely based on what my previous brides had said. Finally, Tara and I met up for coffee one day and I was able to hear all about her store and her business plan and how it was so successful. She gave me a behind-the-scenes tour of her bridal boutique, ans I must say, it is awesome! nalon_a

I asked Tara if she would mind answering a few questions for me so we could all get to know her and her store a little better:

1.    How long have you been in business? Bella Rose was founded in December of 2006 and we are about to come up on our 3 year anniversary and we are very excited!!

2.    How did Bella Rose come into existence? I have always been in love with fashion and came to fall in love with weddings and especially bridal fashions while working for a sales team for Maggie Sottero as well as working with other stores. I knew the metro area needed a beautiful, more intimate boutique with a higher end feel but with afforadable dresses and there were no bridal stores in Edmond, and to this day we are still the only boutique here. We love Edmond and the energy that this town has. But we facilitate the needs of brides from all over the state as well as the nation. We have had brides from as far as Camarillo, California all the way to New York City. We once shipped a bride her dress to her residence in Austria. That shipping was not cheap!! :)

3.    How would you describe the kind of dresses you offer at your boutique? Our gowns are gorgeous. I know that might be biased to say being the owner but we really buy what we love. We carry many designers, some very couture. Our gowns are very high quality but at an affordable price. We range in price from $400 to $3500.

4. What is your advice to brides regarding her wedding dress? The best advice that I can give is have fun!! Enjoy the experience. It should not in any way be stressful!!  I always say that we are selling a brides favorite part of planning a wedding. You can always pick out flowers, or food, or table linens for any time of event but getting to try on wedding gowns and pick out that special dress is a once in a lifetime deal. It’s the gown that marks the day of the rest of your married life!! So have fun!!

Bella Rose is located in Edmond, Oklahoma in the Spring Creek Village Shopping Center (15th and Bryant). I would highly recommend to make an appointment to try on the dresses that they offer!

The Big Exit

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

The reception is wrapping up. The bride and groom have just finished their last dance. The guests are heading out the door for the big exit. They are grabbing something from the basket by the door to throw as the bride and groom leave for the night. What will it be?

I have seen a lot of things thrown, blown, and sparkled as the bride and groom have left their wedding/reception.

I see rose petals and birdseed the most. I have seen confetti (top right picture) and it looks great for pictures. But I would keep in mind, a lot of venues do not allow confetti for clean-up and environmental purposes. They do make “environmentally-safe” confetti now, called ecofetti,  but there are still venues that do not allow it. I would check with the venue first before you decide on what you want to use.

I love the middle right picture that I found on Holli B.’s blog. The bride and/or the groom were in the medical field and they decided to have their guests throw something symbolic for them. What a neat and personalized idea!

Now, I absolutely LOVE the bottom left picture for a fall wedding. How fitting and perfect! I love the colors, the leaves, everything! We are entering the fall season, so all you fall brides—take note of this cute idea! :)

And, of course, you have to love the picture you get when you leave with sparklers. It is stunning. Once again, some venues do not allow sparklers, so make sure you check with them before you buy 100 of them!

Don’t forget, bubbles and bells. These are two very easy and inexpensive options for the farewell!

What are you thinking abot having your guests throw at your exit? And, if you are married, what did your guests throw at your big exit?
